Noelynn Koo STONEY POINT FASHION PARK RETAILER TO OFFER FRESH-BAKED PASTRIES FOR DOGS, "YAPPY" HOURS AND MORE Virginia's first Three Bog Bakery™ set to open April 1st RICHMOND, VA, March 27th, 2006 -- Stoney Point Fashion Park shoppers and their four-legged canine companions will soon discover dog heaven when Virginia's first Three Dog Bakery™ opens April 1. Dogs and their owners will find everything from an on-premises pastry chef baking gourmet pastries and Celebration Cakes for dogs to special events, such as "Yappy" Hours, Dogs Night Out -- and maybe even puppy pool parties with bikini-clad canines. Three Dog Bakery™, America's original and leading bakery or dogs, caters to the canine crowd with fresh-baked treats and food made from "100 percent human-quality ingredients," such as chicken, wheat, carob, applesauce and peanuts. Canine creations range from Celebration Cakes, Snickerpoodles, We Pity the Kitties cat treats and gift baskets to toys, carriers, leashes, beds, collars and spa products. "When you walk in, you're greeted with a delicious aroma of all the spices of a pastry shop, so you know you're in a special place," explains Myra Holden, who with her husband Patrick, owns the store. "We even have a pastry chef who prepares fun treats like Beastro Biscotti®, Pupcakes®, Drooly Dream Bars and 'Mutt'aroons -- it's all about quality," she says. The Holden's year old Golden Retriever, Maggie, serves as the official taste-tester. Maggie also adds a social element to the store, greeting fellow four-legged friends who are welcome to "paws" at the dog-friendly store.
The bakery will host events, such as a regular "Yappy Hour" for pooches and their owners to come together and socialize, throughout the year. Holden will be participating in the Kids & canines Easter Bonnet Contest and Parade on April 8 at Stony Point Fashion Park. The event takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in The Park District and features dogs sporting their best bonnets. Owners may post their pets' pictures on a Munchers & Crunchers Board that sits obediently near the bakery cases filled with fresh-baked treats. "People will feel good when they come here for two reasons, " predicts Holden, a former buyer for a New-York based department store. "It will be a fun place to shop, and customers will know they are buying treats and food that are fresh-baked and healthy for their four-legged friends." The dog bakery's Virginia debut comes at an opportune time. A growing number of people are investigating healthy eating habits for themselves and their entire family, including pets. According to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, today's per food industry is a $14 million business. "We think Three Dog Bakery™ will be a true treat for all of our shoppers, including those on leashes," says Noelynn Koo, marketing & sponsorship director of Stony Point Fashion Park, which has had a dog-friendly policy since the center opened. "Even people who don't have dogs are sure to become dog lovers after checking out the sights, scents and smiles at this entertaining stop." Stoney Point is a 690,000-square-foot, open-air shopping center located at Chippenham and Stony Point parkways in Richmond, VA. An 80,000-square-foot Saks Fifth Avenue, the first in the market and only the second in Virgnia; a 204,000-square-foot Dillard's; an 84,000-square-foot Dick's Sporting Goods on two levels anchor the center's dynamic mix of up to 90 specialty shops and six full-service restaurants.
